Fabrizio Albertini

Italian photographer and director. Born 1984.

q: So what is your series “Handball” about?
a: Handball is a series of pics shot in a single game court. Geometries, musculature, players and the game play. Handball is a “physical documentary” where the point of view moves inside the playground. During the game. Into the game. I started taking pictures far from the gameplay. Then i needed to get closer and closer. To Them and to the Wall.

q: You seem to like to shoot in black and white. Why?
a: In Handball Project I’ve choose to take pics in Black and White because I think it can be the ideal support for describe this space full of light. In this case B&W had helped me to tell about the shapes in a more expressive way. Handball Project it’s a series idea very redundant in his spaces, this kind of film, had gave me the possibility to focus the attention to the lines, geometries and musculature first of all.

q: Why the switch from directing and producing to photography?
a: For me taking pictures is a necessity to accrue my eye. It’s an immediate way to approach that, unlike the movie idea, can give me the possibility to make by myself. I continue to write audiovisual projects but it’s a long process. Photography for me it’s an immediate concept, an aesthetics concept, an opportunity to experiment who starts from the the limits of making movies.

q: Any new music to recommend?
a: Honestly i don’t know. I prefer old stuff.
