Veronika Anna

28 year old living in Lodz, Poland.
q: What is your favorite Polish food?
a: Traditional Polish food really depends on the season. Seasons also influence the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables.
In the Spring, I like sorrel soup with little chopped leaves, it is sour and delicious, it’s the best what you can eat then! In the Summer – young potatoes with dill, fried eggs and fresh cucumber salad with sour cream. In the Autumn, I like picking mushrooms and then eating them in a range of different dishes. And in the Winter the most delicious dish is the so-called ‘bigos’ which is cabbage braised for few days with tomatoes…

q: Do you think camera handphones and other pervasive image-camera technology cheapens the aesthetics achieved by analogue cameras? (for example the smartphone application instagram)
a: No, I don’t think so. In my opinion, if you have ideas and abilities, you can use whatever method you wish to create the image. Moreover, we live in times in which one can use software (eg. Photoshop) and create an image same as the analog one. I also think that analog photography is a different photographic experience – the element of waiting and surprise – this is the reason for which it is often chosen, as well as the respect people have for this technique and the will to develop themselves. But…one could come back to the older times and ask themselves if the popularization of photography and cameras available for everyone made photography less valuable in general?

q: You graduated in culture and film studies, what are some of your favorite films/directors?
a: First and foremost, I love the metaphysical European films – Martin Sulik, Lars von Trier, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Urszula Antoniak, Andriej Tarkowski… You can check which films I like and which I would like to see:http://mubi.com/users/2759009.

q: Any new music to recommend?
a: I don’t keep myself up-to-date when it comes to music. I like Lana Del Rey’s new album. Moreover, I like Fever Ray, Lykke Li, Royksopp, Cults. However, I am open to other genres, I also like dub, eg. Zion Train, Jah Free or Radikal Guru. I love when music caresses my ears and creates images in my head. It’s like film or literature – a source of inspiration.
