q: Why film photography?
a: I love the look and colors of film. Since I started shooting film, I have found my own style of photography. Film has also taught me to slow down and think about what I’m shooting before I actually take the picture.
q: When shooting portraits, do you usually provide your subjects direction?
a: I really don’t like to pose people but sometimes you may need to give some direction especially at the beginning of a session. Once people start getting comfortable with me then there is very little direction needed.
My job is to document who you really are and be able to capture those moments. The best pictures, in my opinion, are those candid moments, the ones when they don’t think they are getting their picture taken.
q: Favorite food?
a: Salvadorian food. I love fried plantains, pupusas, and horchata.
q: Any new music to recommend?
a: Right now I’m really into Coldplay, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Lisa Hannigan, and Ani DiFranco.
